Our Cross Country Adventure

Welcome to our cross country biking blog!! We are doing this trip to raise money for the scholarship fund of the American Youth Foundation-Merrowvista, a summer camp in New Hampshire.  We hope to raise 6,000 dollars – one dollar for every mile we bike – so that more children with limited financial means can experience a Merrowista summer.  Merrowvista offers powerful, life changing, and life affirming experiences to kids 8-18 and we believe that all children should have the ability to attend regardless of financial capacity.  Thanks for visiting and please visit http://www.active.com/donate/ayftour to donate to the AYF-Merrowvista scholarship fund!  (:
Kind Regards,
Lauren, Rica, Jean Marie, and Sarah

  3. I just wrote the Ellen Show! I hope they get it!

  4. My friend and I met the four travelers last Sunday in rural Texas while we were out riding too. (Er, motorcycles that is…) We stopped at a convenience store and struck up a conversation and I almost fell out of my saddle when they responded “Massachussetts” when asked where they were from. They were seven weeks on the road, even then! These four are an engaging lot, with stories to tell and seemingly boundless energy, not to mention spirit and motivation.
Girls, we’ll be following your progress and wish you a safe and successful journey! Bob

  5. WOW GUYS!!!!

Don’t forget to take a dip in the ocean when you get to CA!!!!

I hope your adventure has been all and more than you ever expected. Cherish your memories and share with all the things you have seen. This has been great to follow you even if I don’t get to be there physically with you. You do a heart good and again I AM SO PROUD of you guys. Don’t forget to take that skinny dip. No pics just smiles!!! heheheh
And to your parents you sure have raised a great bunch of girls.

  7. My husband Joe Weed (www.JoeWeed.com) and I are old friends of Craig and Mary Humphrey, so heard about your wonderful trip. We are also avid cyclists, and our 24-year-old son races Pro Mountain Bike downhill. We would be delighted to host you! We live in the Santa Cruz Mountains. (408) 353-3498

    • Hi Marty,

I just read your message! I also have the book that you wrote about the Killing Fields in Cambodia. Mary gave it to me when we visited them at Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to reading it. How wonderful to enable a voice to be heard with your writing!

Do you live near San Francisco? If you do, you might want to go to the ceremony/celebration at the end of the trip where they dip their wheels in the Pacific Ocean. We do not yet know exactly when or where it will take place but if you’re interested, when I know, I will let you know! It is not going to work out for us to be there.

I think you guys would enjoy meeting these young women.

      Good wishes,
      Jane Gossard

  8. Congratulations, girls! What you’ve done is absolutely awesome! Bob
